Iron Man ROCKED!

Thanks to the patriotic citizens at TechCrunch, I was able to see Iron Man early this evening, and do so for a mere $1! How awesome is that?

There was a bit of drama which you can read about here which appeared to come from Marvel, but in fact was instigated by the lovely people at Oracle. You know, the company with the billionaire who got his taxes reduced on his massive Japanese-style estate because, well the poor guy is just hurtin, it seems.

Anyway, the movie was great, the Oracle people weren't all douche-y to us TechCrunch partisans, and the movie itself was very entertaining. The "Iron Man" looked real, and Robert Downey Jr. was kicking some ass.

Fun Fact: "Ralphie" from "A Christmas Story" was one of the producers! No joke!

I pose the question over at Television Without Pity today....I have to say that this season so far has really not been much fun compared to the previous 3....LOST kicked major ass this week, while BSG? Ugh it was painful to see Chief Tyrol's little crybaby rant, and as for Baltar, well...for someone who was never religious to suddenly Be Religious is kinda whatever. And Lee Adama's conversion to Hippie Leftist is just, well....whatever.

Someone please get the Cylon virus out and about on the ship so we can at least see that grinning idiot Tory die...please....

if you don't know my brother, you do not know the person who can literally come up with the best one-liner, immediately, upon queried. It's like a super power.

Case in point: I was telling him about "Dexter" which is a Showtime show now on CBS. I'd told him how I saw one on CBS and was like "meh" but got the DVD on Netflix and was like "Wow this is good."

After explaining the premise (Dexter is a serial killer who kills...other serial killers) I mentioned how his "first" kill was a character played by Denise "Tasha Yar" Crosby.

To which he simply said "Yeah, she was the serial killer who butchered all those roles on tv and in film..."

You gotta love it.

Oh, come on. You know I'm not prone to hyperbole....right?

No really.

"Southland Tales" had the potential for being a wonderful satire, in the vein of many other great films, or it could have been the next V for Vendetta. INSTEAD, it was the next Rocky Horror Picture Show, and I don't mean that in a good way. I mean that in the "Oh my GOD this movie sucked so royally Queen Elizabeth has to bow down to the new royalty" and in the "in 10 years high school drama kids and misfits will be going to decrepit old theaters at midnight to do fancy dress and recite the lines" way.

Yeah.

For me to even trouble you as to how the director of the fascinating Donnie Darko could make a cinematic turd this big, smelly, and full of beans would be for me to take up your time, time you could spend with family, on charity work, on saving a puppy from a wheat combine, on ANYTHING would be to waste precious moments in our lives.

Instead I'll say this: I can put up with a lot. I've worked on indie films (Insert pain stick here). I've seen the value, however minor, in films that others have discarded as poo, much like the bird who finds the peanut in the horse crap.

But in this thing, I just have to say....STAY AWAY. RENT THE EWOKS ADVENTURE IT HAS MORE VALUE THAN THIS PIECE OF CRAP!

That is all.
